Like is a word used heavily in drill, before ice spice even made music, Dthang another drill rapper used like in all his songs, he even has a song called like. I think it's just a part of Bronx drill rap to use that term, or even Bronx lingo.
I appreciate this perspective! Definitely wasn't aware of Dthang or his prior use of "like", but I think the point about Ice Spice reclaiming the word is still relevant in that she's made it so much a part of her persona, with the EP title and even her presence in the scene and as an internationally known figure. I'd be curious to read up about the origins of adlibs in NY drill
